REPORT 6:30AM 8/15/14
The Pier, we finally have some real juice in the water. Its overhead, but reality is ringing true, Huntington is just not that good. The tide is really low right now and by the time the tide comes up to improve things the wind will be on it. Welocome to ground hog day in HB. SOUTHSIDE: Overhead walls however the left into the Pier looks to be fun, if the wind can hold off until we have more water on it with the tide coming up it may improve and a get a bit better. Dont get me wrong its really is worth paddling out, but you can score really good waves somewhere else if your willing to drive....Just tell your boss your Parakeet has the sniffles and you must tend to it today, this is a day to use your sick days for sure. NORTHSIDE: Better story here, the right is looking really fun, also the occasional Pier Bowl left is popping up and looks like a blast. 17th ST: shoulder to head high, not crowded and is worth paddling out, just not as consistent as the Pier.
DRIVE TO SPOT OF THE DAY: UPPERS, It loves this direction and will be offering up super long rights and connecting thru the cove. Just be prepared to share it with 250 other kooks. But hey your from Huntington and if you cant hassle for waves then you didnt learn anything growing up here, theres always Magnolia St. As well.
REPORT 6:30 AM THURS. 8/14/14
THE PIER: At the Pier this fine morning we have a cleaner look than yesterday with new longer period SW line rolling thru. waist to shoulder high plus with some head high sets. The tide is a bit low and should get pretty good and fun on the rising tide from about 9:45am until high tide around 12:45 that is going to be your best window with the tide push. You will also see some plus sets on the push. It is a bit walled with drained out low tide, however today's swell direction will over some more open face than yesterday. SOUTHSIDE: BEWARE OF THE DONKEYS ON SUP's! there seems to be a growing number of them and there are 3 of them out in the line already lets do what we can to discourage their unsafe water craft from being used at such a crowded spot, it wont be long before one them seriously injures you, one of your kids or somebody you know. The quality of waves has improved a bit from yesterday but dont expect boat trip perfection. Unlike yesterday, today is definitely a surf day. Racey makeable walls on tap until the tide push. NORTHSIDE: A bit smaller than southside but the right is working. Expect the right Pier Bowl to work and connect all the way thru the Kiddie Bowl today on the rising tide. Northside should be the call if you like rights during the tide push period. 17th St. drained out right now, but should be surfable and a good escape from the crowds on the tide push, expect waist high waves with an occasional chest to shoulder high sets, but fun.
DRIVE TO SPOT OF THE DAY: Oceanside NORTH JETTY. It love the swell angle and periodshould have some nice little wedgers During the higher tide periods
REPORT 6:30AM WEN 8/13/14: THE PIER: At the Pier this morning we have some shoulder high south walls which is to be expected with a negative low tide right now and the longer period energy. Southside is mainly walled but will improve as the tide fills in best time to hit would be around the 9am hour to catch the tide push making more chances to get some turns in. Northside has some shoulder high sets but is more inconsistent than the Southside the right into the pier is semi working with a few makeable sections. This will really improve around 9am with the tide push and some more water. Overall ranking right now is Shitty with a chance of crappy.
17th Street: Drained out and craptacular. If you want to be alone and your ready to master the soft top 17th is going off for you. Basically knee-hi and unridable. Look for it to improve with some more water, really the only chance 17th has today is at peak hi tide at 12 noon, the shorebreak here has been decent on hi tide as the sand is right for it. But only expect waist hi little dumpers when it all comes together.
DRIVE TO SPOT OF THE DAY: IS to stay home nothing really worth making the trip for. Lowers will have some really good waves today in the head hi range, however you and 250 of your best friends are already on it.
FORECAST: BY 8pm Tonight......we might even have some cute charts ups.
